a dreamy gluten-free french haven!
turning 30 really isn't all that bad when you get to spend it with your life partner in one of your favourite restaurants. the ambience, the food, the service. honestly, everything is spot on. we were extremely happy to be put in the cosiest of spots and I was even happier with my salmon! if you're ever in newcastle-upon-tyne, it's worth a visit! their menu highlights what's gluten free and of course I had gluten free bread to go with that iconic charcuterie board. there was absolutely no room left for dessert but I was treated to the cutest happy birthday chocolates. thank you the french quarter, we love you!
to start we had the grande planche mixte, the most delicious selection of charcuterie, cheese, homemade jam, chutney, cornichons and walnuts. the blue cheese paired with the walnut is just divine and oh my goodness, the pate (!!!) alongside gluten free bread, I could've stopped here but I didn't want to!
the menu changes throughout the year so on this visit we went for:
charred cauliflower, roasted butternut squash and beetroot served with smoked cauliflower pureé, pickled courgette and toasted pumpkin seeds
homemade cured salmon served with lemon and dill cream
pork medallions served with a creamy roquefort sauce
and for the first time ever we decided to try the homemade chunky chips with aioli and pepperade
everything was stunning! I would highly recommend it all but if you are to get anything, try the mixed charcuterie board!! you can even get wine pairing which Lucy fully immersed herself into, haha!
as I said, there was just absolutely no room for dessert but from a previous visit, I recommend the chocolate mousse! I was treated to the cutest birthday chocolates which was such a sweet gesture and I can't wait for our next visit.
